Bible Verses About Perseverance.

The Christian life is a long race, not a sprint. Scripture is honest that trials come and that faith can feel tired. It also promises that God finishes what he starts.

These verses call you to keep going and show what makes endurance possible. They point beyond your own grit to Jesus, who endured the cross first.

Run the race

Fix your eyes on Jesus and keep moving forward.

  • Hebrews 12:1-3

    Read in context
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
  • Philippians 3:13-14

    Read in context
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
  • 1 Corinthians 9:24-25

    Read in context
