Bible Verses About Encouragement.
Everyone has days when they need courage to keep going. Scripture does not offer empty pep talks. It points to God, who is present, who keeps his word, and who finishes what he starts.
Read these verses for yourself, or send one to someone who needs it. The Bible also calls believers to encourage one another, so the last section is about that.
God is with you
Encouragement starts with knowing you are not alone.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Isaiah 41:10
fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
God keeps his promises
What God starts, he finishes.
Philippians 1:6
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
The good promised here is conformity to Christ (verse 29), not that every event will feel good.
Lamentations 3:22-23
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Strength to keep going
God gives strength to the tired as well as the strong.
Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Encourage one another
God often encourages us through other believers.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
