Bible Verses About Faith.
Faith in the Bible is trust in a person. It rests on who God is and what he has promised, not on how confident you feel on a given day.
Scripture shows that faith saves, faith grows, and faith acts. These verses explain what faith is, where it comes from, and how it shapes an ordinary life.
What faith is
Faith is confidence in God's promises, even before you see them fulfilled.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
2 Corinthians 5:7
for we walk by faith, not by sight.
Saved through faith
Faith receives what God gives freely in Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
How faith grows
God builds faith through his Word and through testing.
Romans 10:17
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
James 1:2-4
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Mark 9:23-24
And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”
A father admits his faith is mixed with doubt, and Jesus still answers his honest prayer.
Faith that works
Real faith shows itself in obedience and love.
James 2:17-18
So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
James is not adding works to faith for salvation. He shows that living faith always produces action.
Galatians 5:6
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
